Robert Simon
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Robert began to play guitar at 13 years old and at age 17 enrolled in the music performance program at California State University, Northridge, studying classical guitar under the direction of Professor Ron Purcell. He became highly respected at the university among his professors and colleagues for his impeccable technique and well thought out interpretations of the classical guitar repertoire. Bach's "Chaconne" and Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" were just a few of the virtuoso pieces that Robert mastered. He won the prestigious Segovia Scholarship Award three consecutive years and was also one of the few students to get selected to perform for Guitar Virtuoso Julian Bream. In 1994 Robert received a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance.
After graduating from college Robert decided to pursue his lifelong passion in music as a solo act. His superb performances given throughout the United States, Europe, Central and South America brought him both national and international success as a world-class guitarist, captivating audiences with his fast-paced, energetic style of playing and masterful command of his instrument. Simon's music can be best described as fast, upbeat songs covering a wide range of styles including Nuevo Flamenco, Latin, Classical, New Age and Smooth Jazz. He has released five albums as a solo artist ("Spanish Dreams", "Flamenco Passion", "Guitarra y Canto Tropical", "Latin Passion" and "The Complete Collection") which have collectively sold over 50,000 copies worldwide. Robert continues to perform extensively at various venues and private functions throughout the United States and is presently one of the featured acts at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California.
